  • 1st Tuesday of the month: veterinary and health related topics
  • 2nd Tuesday of the month: dog training related topics
  • 3rd Tuesday of the month: service and therapy dog related topics
  • 4th Tuesday of the month: dog breeding and puppy related topics
  • 5th Tuesday of the month (when there is one): dog bite prevention and safety related topics

Michelle McCarthy is the owner and director of training at K9 Home Schooling, a force free/clicker training organization in southeast Michigan. She is a nationally recognized Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and Certified Therapy Animal Consultant with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). Michelle has worked for over 18 years with complex behavior problems in dogs and developing and training therapy dogs and therapy dog programs. For the past 10 years, she has worked closely with medical professionals and educators who utilize therapy dogs in the work place or in animal assisted play therapy. She has raised, trained, and placed therapy dogs who work in medical facilities and private practices around the United States.

Kim is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Good Dog in a Box, that she started with her sister, professional dog trainer Jenn Merritt, CPDT-KA, to help educated the general public about dog bite prevention and provide reward based dog training systems and products that could keep more family dogs in their homes, instead of being relinquished to shelters because of “bad behavior and biting.” Kim’s latest project is the launch of Good Dog Pro, an online content subscription and collection of products and curriculums for professionals who work with dogs.
