Royal here! Once again to give you the dog’s perspective. Jenn’s recent blog post talked about how you humans tend to trust your family dog around small kids, maybe a bit too much. Unfortunately, sometimes that trust leads to lack of supervision and lack of awareness about your dog’s stress level, which can lead to […]

A recent study published in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior: Clinical Applications and Research found that the bite risk to small children around their family dog is often underestimated. In addition, researchers from the Institute of Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare at Vetmeduni Vienna found that supervision alone is not enough to keep small children […]

Royal here! Once again giving you the scoop from the dog’s perspective. This week, Jenn blogged about #HarnesstheLove, a campaign to promote the use of no-pull body harnesses. Bravo! This is a great way to get more dogs into no-pull harnesses and out of prong, choke and shock collars. I can tell you, if your dog […]

This week, the Academy of Dog Trainers is promoting #HarnesstheLove, a campaign to promote the use of no-pull body harnesses. No-pull harnesses are a great all around choice for walking dogs. They decrease pain and anxiety for dogs while on leash, give the handlers more overall control of the dog’s body, and are easy to […]
Royal here! Once again to give you the scoop from a dog’s perspective. Jenn’s last blog talked about a study that debunked the myth of the so-called “guilty look.” First of all, I am so glad that you humans are finally wising up and doing real scientific research on dog behavior and body language. Go […]

Jenn Merritt, BS, CPDT-KA, and Kim Merritt-Butler grew up loving dogs. Jenn became a professional dog trainer and Tellington TTouch practitioner and Kim became a serial entrepreneur. Last year they got their heads together and came up with a new way to approach dog training for families. Good Dog in a Box was born.
Their mission is to keep dogs and kids safe through education, awareness, and advocacy. They want to reduce the number of family dogs surrendered at animal shelters by promoting positive, reward based training techniques that are family and kid friendly.
Jenn and Kim want everyone that owns a dog to have fun and enjoy their furry companion. Together, we can make a difference.
