We’ve all seen the videos floating around YouTube featuring dogs giving “guilty looks.” The forlorn expression, head hung low, avoiding eye contact and other forms of body language that dog owners insist are proof of misbehavior, disobedience, and the dog’s admission of guilt. By not properly understanding your dog’s guilty look, you could be scolding […]

The power of one extremely valuable, desired reward can have a profound impact on behavior. This is often called “jackpotting,” and can lead to a behavior change in an individual that lasts for varying amounts of time. When we are working with dogs and children, jackpots can be an easy way to strengthen behaviors in both our […]

Good Dog in a Box co-founders Jenn Merritt, CPDT-KA and Kim Merritt-Butler attended the Family Paws Parent Education Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina July 30-August 1st. Jenn Merritt, BS, CPDT-KA, and Kim Merritt-Butler grew up loving dogs. Jenn became a professional dog trainer and Tellington TTouch practitioner and Kim became a serial entrepreneur. Last year they got their heads together and came up with a new way to approach dog training for families. Good Dog in a Box was born.
Their mission is to keep dogs and kids safe through education, awareness, and advocacy. They want to reduce the number of family dogs surrendered at animal shelters by promoting positive, reward based training techniques that are family and kid friendly.
Jenn and Kim want everyone that owns a dog to have fun and enjoy their furry companion. Together, we can make a difference.
